The soaring Hawks look to extend their 5 game win streak tonight against the reeling Pelicans. In their last game, the Hawks were able to take down the Brooklyn Nets 101-87. Al Horford continued his strong play with a team high 21 points (8-10 FG) and also corralled 8 rebounds. Dennis Schroder once again started in place of Kyle Korver (ankle rehab) but had a miserable start to the game. He ended up with 20 points with a due to a hot shooting second half. The Hawks played great defense for the majority of the game, headlined by Kent Bazemore and Justin Holiday’s multiple blocks. The game stayed close due to Brook Lopez’s strong play (27 points), but the Hawks were able to contain him in the 4th and pulled away.
After a remarkable season, the Pelicans are falling short of expectations to start the year. They are currently 0-4 and have a tough schedule ahead of them. Anthony Davis continues to be a bright spot for the team, but the injuries to the team are holding them back from being the team that made it into the playoffs last season. Something to look out for is how the Hawks will defend Davis. Paul Millsap will be the primary defender and will also look to use his arsenal of moves to score against the long and athletic Davis.
Pregame coverage will began at 7:30 PM and tip off is at 8 on Fox Sports Southeast. The Hawks will also have play by play action called on the radio locally by 92.9 THE GAME. LETS GO HAWKS!!!!
