Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The Atlanta Hawks are looking to recover as they face former Hawks Elton Brand and the Philadelphia Sixers. Atlanta is on a 2-game losing streak after suffering back to back losses at the hands of the New York Knicks. In their last matchup against the Knicks, they nearly made a comeback but were not able to maintain the momentum. As a result, the final score was 107-101 in favor of the Knicks. Paul Millsap led the way with 19 points and 7 rebounds while the remaining starters contributed by scoring double digits. Currently, the Hawks are the 5th seed in the Eastern conference with a 21-15 record and are 4.5 games behind first place Cleveland Cavaliers.

As the Hawks are on the road in Philadelphia, the Sixers, who are one of the league’s worst teams this season, will look to build their confidence and momentum after their win against the Timberwolves on Wednesday. Newly acquired point guard Ish Smith had a solid outing in which he posted 21 points and 11 assists. Elton Brand’s return against the Atlanta Hawks should be interesting as he will provide the young Sixers team in leadership and experience.  In addition, good news for the Hawks as center Tiago Splitter’s status was upgraded to probable for tonight’s game after missing the last couple of games due to a calf injury. Hawks are 15-8 when Splitter plays; 6-7 without him this season.

Coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. on Fox Sports Southeast. GO HAWKS!!!

Hawks starters: Teague, Korver, Bazemore, Millsap, and Horford

Sixers starters: Smith, Stauskas, Grant, Noel, and Okafor
