The Hawks head “home” for the first time this season in a preseason matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.

After three road games over the course of the past week, Hawks fans finally will get a first glimpse in person of the team. The Hawks will hold both of their preseason games this week at Georgia Tech’s McCamish Pavilion. With Philips Arena still under renovation, the team was not able to hold an open practice this season.

The Hawks are coming off a 109-87 thrashing to the hands of the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. Starting Point Guard Dennis Schroder did not suit up for the game (rest). Malcolm Delaney led the way with 15 points. Despite the lopsided result, the Hawks actually played rather well outside of the 3rd quarter where the Pistons outscored Atlanta 37-21.

As for the Grizzlies, they are coming off a 110-89 win in Philadelphia. Both teams rested some key players in the previous game. In addition, with this being the 2nd to last preseason game, we may get a chance to see close to a regular season rotation played out.

Matchup to Watch

Dewayne Dedmon vs Marc Gasol

Dedmon has looked relatively good so far for the Hawks this preseason. An area Dwight Howard mightily struggled last year was guarding Centers who could stretch the floor, such as Gasol. This will be a good opportunity to see if Dedmon can perform better in this area.
