UGA had their way with the Gators on Saturday.
Coming off a much needed bye week, the Georgia Bulldogs looked forward to a tough SEC matchup. The Dawgs played the Gators of Florida Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville looking to keep their undefeated season alive. They pulled out a convicing victory against Florida 42-7 to move to 8-0.
Also of note, Penn State ended up losing 39-38 to Ohio State. Georgia could move up to the number two spot in the nation.
The dawgs got off to a hot start with a 21-0 first quarter. Sony Michel, who had six carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns scored first drive on a 74 yard TD run. The defense pulled a three and out and Georgia’s Nick Chubb rushed for a goal line touchdown.
With the Dawgs up 14-0, the defense pulled out an interception and the offense drove again to score a 17 yard touchdown pass from Fromm to Wims to put dawgs up 21-0.
Sony Michel rushed for another 45 yard touchdown at the beginning of the second half to put dawgs up 28-0. Elijah Holyfield scored the last offensive touchdown for the dawgs with a 39 yard touchdown run to close out the game for the dawgs.
Florida scored in the end of the 4th quarter with a one yard touchdown run from Mark Thompson.
The defense for the Bulldogs look as stout as any other weekend this season pitching a shut out for 3 full quarters. Lorenzo Carter led the Georgia defense with nine total tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss. The dawgs combined for a total of five sacks and eight tackles for loss.
The Dawgs wouldn’t allow the Florida offense to get the run game going. Also let Feleipe Frank struggled to get any passes off to his receivers.
JR. Reed recovered a lost fumble from Feleipe Frank and ran it back for a five yard touchdown scoop and score.
UGA now looks forward to hosting the Gamecocks of South Carolina at Sanford Stadium next weekend.
