Falcons pulled off the crucial nail biter.

The 3-3 Falcons have struggled to pull out close games against their last three opponents. The Falcons offense under Steve Sarkisian has yet to find their identity and has struggled since being the number one offense in the NFL last season. Atlanta went to the Big Apple to face the Jets of New York early Sunday afternoon. The game was known to be a sloppy one due to bad weather conditions.

The defense started off shaky holding the Jets offense to a three and out but it was negated due to a pass interference on Ricardo Allen. The Jets then scored on a 20 yard passing Touchdown from McCown to Eric Tomlinson. The Falcons offense got held to a early three and out but it was negated due to a holding penalty on the Jets. After the holding penalty, the Jets defense still held up the falcons offense and recovered a fumble by Matt Ryan.

The Jets got the ball back to get held to a field goal that was missed. The Falcons then drove down the field to score on a one yard Touchdown pass from Ryan to Austin Hooper. Matt Ryan fumbled again and led to a Jets field goal to put them up 10-7. Atlanta next possession was held up to a field goal to keep game tied at 10-10. Jets later score on a 24 yard deep touchdown pass to Robby Anderson to make score 17-10.

The Falcons closed out the first half driving down field and kicking a 45 yard field goal to make score 17-13.

Atlanta opened up the second half with a drive ending field goal to make it a one point game with the Jets still on top. Matt Bryant’s field goal were the only points scored in the entire 3rd quarter. The Falcons got the ball back in the 4th quarter and drove down field to score what would be the game clinching Touchdown. Matt Ryan scrambled in the pocket to find Muhammed Sanu in the back of the end zone for an eight yard TD pass.

That Touchdown put the Falcons up 22-17 in the fourth. Jets got the ball back and drove down field and got stopped on 3rd down to force a field goal. With the score 22-20 the Falcons recovered a muffed punt by J. Kerley to set up what could be the game ending field goal which was put thru by Matt Bryant. Jets forced to punt to Andre Roberts who ran back a 80 punt return for a TD to be nullified by a illegal block.

The Falcons were forced to punt to Jets but it would indeed be too late for the Jets to force a comeback with the Falcons pulling off the nail biter.

Although Matt Ryan fumbled twice, the Falcons still pulled out their 4th win of the season. Tevin Coleman led all Backs with 14 carries for 82 yards with a 52 yard carry as his longest today. Sanu led all receivers with six receptions for 74 yards and a Touchdown. Julio had three receptions for 74 yards as well. Deion Jones led the defense with 11 total tackles and one tackle for loss. The defense had seven quarterback hits, six total tackles for loss, and three sacks.

Austin Hooper, Vic Beasley, and Brian Poole were all injured during game. The Falcons look forward to their first divisional game against the Carolina Panthers in Carolina next Sunday. To have a chance at the playoffs the Falcons have to win out all divisional games and the non divisional games.
