Falcons Survive And Clinch A Playoff Spot

Falcons @

Our Atlanta Falcons have officially a spot in the 2017 playoffs with their win against the Carolina Panthers.

The Falcons won by a score of 22-10. A lot of positives came from this game, the defense locked down the Panthers game on the ground and in the air. Neal, Alford, and Rico all had an interception with Vic and Jarrett each recording a sack.

The Falcons offense looked like they were on the same page all game despite only getting in the end zone once on a pass from Matt Ryan connecting with Freeman for 19 yards. Matt Ryan finished the with 317 passing yards and quarterback rating of 90.7. Freeman and Coleman saw their touches decrease a little both having 11 carries for 23 yards each. We also saw Matt Ryan take Luke Kuechly’s ankles on a play where he scrambled and converted for a first down.

The Panthers struggled to find any consistency until the second quarter when the Panthers chewed off a 10 minute drive to score their only touchdown of the game. Cam Newton finished 14-34 with 180 yards 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 31.5. Of course Newton also lead the Panthers with the most rushing yards, 59.

The Falcons Travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams on Saturday night. The Falcons have won the last 4 match-ups between the teams and also hold the only victory when they met in the 2005 playoffs and won by a score of 47-17. The Rams are a young and hungry team and i wouldn’t be surprised to see the Atlanta Native Todd Gurley to play harder than usual.

Game starts at 8:15 Eastern on NBC.
