Our Atlanta Hawks Beat the New Orleans Pelicans by a score of 94-93.
The Pelicans controlled the game for the most part tonight, and even had a lead up to 19 points. The Hawks defense allowed 60 first half points but were able to limit New Orleans to 33 in the second half.
The Pelicans were coming in off a back to back in Boston where they had won 116-113. Unfortunately for them, it took overtime to win, causing them to leave a bit later than they wanted to. The snow also caused them get into Atlanta than they wanted. Anthony Davis has been playing out of his mind putting up consecutive 45 points and 15 rebound games. Their offense was nothing short of spectacular tonight where they connected 10/27 (37%) from the arc and hit about 44% from the court itself.
The Hawks came into this game after beating the Spurs on MLK day on Monday by a score of 102-99. The offense wasn’t necessarily clicking in the first half with only scoring 45, and found themselves down 15 at half. Dennis Schroder led the team with a 13 point and a 15 assist (Career High) game. Kent Bazemore dropped 20, and John Collins dropped 18 and 5 with a block off the bench. Overall the hawks shot 25% (10/40) from the 3, and about 42% (37/89) from the floor.
This is the second time this season the Hawks have won back to back games but with these wins here you might see this team play with a little bit more confidence knowing they have the ability to hang with anyone. I still stand by my prediction that the Hawks will sneak into the 8th seed and have a fun run in the playoffs.
