Deion Jones Impresses at Pro Bowl
While the Pro Bowl has become a bit of a frivolous game, it still means a lot for young players. Deion Jones, Keanu Neal, Alex Mack, and Julio Jones were selected to the Pro Bowl this year for the Falcons. Julio Jones declined because of what most suspect an injury or to avoid an injury while Mack, Neal, and Jones participated.
Deion also had an impressive hit on Kareem Hunt at 3:04. He’s shown all year his ability to recognize plays earlier and his ability to tackle in the open field.
Deion Jones led the NFC in tackles with 6 today and overall had a good game. While it was hard to pay attention on defense because it’s not meant to be a defensive game, Deion flew around and proved he can dominate the AFC just like he does in the NFC.
Keanu Neal also had 1 tackle but barely played any snaps as he was selected as an alternate. I really was dissapointed that he wasn’t originally selected because he absolutely deserved it but he’ll be there for years to come.
Alex Mack also played for the NFC and since he’s a lineman there aren’t any stats. He did have one funny play where I believe he refused to block because it was a saints player running the ball. I know he blocked but it still is a funny play.
Hopefully like last year, none of our players will be able to participate in 2019.
Senior Bowl Recap
While WR isn’t necessarily a need, many people have interest in drafting a wide receiver as it seems Taylor Gabriel is on his way out. While I wouldn’t want us to pick one in the 1st round, depending on what happens in Free Agency, I wouldn’t mind us going after one in the 2nd/3rd rounds. One WR who Quinn has supposedly been looking at during practice is DJ Chark. He impressed myself and most scouts this week during practice with his big play ability and hands.
He, as of now, is projected a 2nd-3rd round pick in the NFL Draft. He impressed in practiced but showcased his skills (especially his big play ability) in the Senior Bowl game on saturday.
Chark caught five passes for 160 yards while catching deep grabs of 63 and 75 yards, scoring a touchdown, and earning Co-MVP honors of the South Team.
According to most scouts, Isaiah Wynn also impressed during the game. While a tackle during college, I think he will make the transition well to guard and would be a good choice for the Falcons if they don’t go after a OG in free agency.
