Yamil Asad Is Headed to D.C. United

Yamil Asad wasn’t brought back by Atlanta United after his initial loan year but he now is making a move back to the MLS.

Atlanta United announced today it has acquired up to $600,000 in allocation money from D.C. United in exchange for the rights to Yamil Asad. In 2018, Atlanta will receive $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). In 2019, Atlanta will receive $100,000 in GAM and $100,000 in TAM. In addition, Atlanta can also receive $100,000 in GAM if Asad appears in at least one MLS match in 2020.

Asad is a great player and it’s not surprising that another team wanted to get him.  I wish we kept him but we didn’t have the money. We got Barco though so it should be OK. Unfortunately DC United was our kryptonite last year and now they’re rubbing salt in the wounds.

Asad was all class as he represented the A and if true, I wish him the best! This news also gives us an excuse to watch Atlanta United’s first ever goal!
