3 Up, 3 Down For The Hawks: Week 17

All I can say is finally.

It was trade deadline week in the NBA, and the Hawks were fairly quiet. They did reach out a buyout agreement with Marco Belinelli, and he’ll be headed to the 76ers. That means we will no longer see Belinelli in this series, even though it looked like we would see him a lot. Other than that, that means some players are going to earn more minutes, and that gives them more time to shine… or fall off. Let’s see what we have for this week.

Tyler Dorsey

If it’s anybody that won with Marco Belinelli gone is Tyler Dorsey. He was already seeing increased minutes in the lineup, but now we should see him a lot more. We definitely saw him more this week and he made the most of his time. He had double-digit points in every game this week and looked impressive doing so. He has also seen some minutes in crunch time, which shows you coach Bud is trusting more as each game goes. If he keeps playing like this, he may see an even bigger role in the future.

Dennis Schroder

Dennis did his regular Dennis things this week. He’s constantly putting up points win or lose. It looks like he found his shot again as well, after struggling for a while. But that’s Dennis for you. One week he might be completely off is people are talking bad on him, and one week he flourishes and everybody is saying he’s still the point guard of the Hawks future. I’ve honestly been on both of those sides, but altogether I just want him to be great.

Coach Bud

FINALLY. After weeks of struggling, Bud has finally made every Hawks fan happy again. Dewayne Dedmon is back in the starting lineup and it looks like he’ll stay there. And look what happens, Dedmon scores 20 points, grabs 13 rebounds, and ultimately hits a 3 pointer to give the Hawks the win today. Another great thing Bud did today: he didn’t play Miles Plumlee. Top 3 move he’s made as an Atlanta Hawks coach. I’m proud of him.

DeAndre’ Bembry

They said he was going what in a what?? Bembry needs to slow it down, a lot. It’s not like it would affect his playing time because he isn’t getting any. He was available to play today but didn’t get in the game. At this point, I don’t know what is going on with him. He was supposed to be the breakout star on the Hawks this season, and he is far from being that as of now. It looks like Dorsey is taking all his minutes which he deserves.

Kent Bazemore

It was fun while it lasted, really. After a hot stretch of games, Kent Bazemore has come back down to Earth. That’s not a bad thing though, he played good this week. Just not as good as he’s been previously. I didn’t expect him to keep it up, but that’s okay.

Miles Plumlee

Guess what, he scored 7 points on Tuesday! LOL.
