Braves Take 2 Of 3 From Rockies

The Braves continued their extremely hot hitting on Friday.

Friday: Braves Win 8-3

Ozzie Albies (AJC)

On Friday, the Braves beat the Rockies 8-3. Brandon McCarthy had a quality start with 6 innings pitched 3 earned runs and had 4 puchouts, the first quality start of the season for the Braves. The offense continued its impressive run to start the 2018 campain by putting up another 8 runs. Dansby lead the way in this win with 3 RBI’s, having a 3 hit night to increase his batting average to .370. Ozzie contributed by hitting a home run in the first inning. Carlos Gonzalez hit 2 home runs and Trevor Story hit a home run as well to score all 3 of the Rockies runs.

Saturday: Rockies win 3-2 F/10

Vizcaino Blown Save (AJC)

The Rockies got out to a early 2-0 lead until the Braves were able to tie it up in the 9th inning on a Ryan Flaherty single. They then gave the game away in the 10th inning and losing on 3 straight walks. Viz just couldn’t find the strike zone the last couple of batters and threw 7 straight balls. We saw Freeman and Flaherty get the two runs home for the Braves and a lot of impressive sightings in the infield by Albies in the 9th to send the game into extras.

Sunday: Braves win 4-0

Dansby And Albies (Zimbio)

Today the Braves won the series against the Rockies by beating them 4-0, Sean Newcomb looked dominant 6 innings in a shutout and striking out 9. We saw home runs from Albies again, Dansby, and Markakis. Those three combined for 6 of the 8 hits for the Braves and did all the damage against the Rockies.

A Look at the Week Ahead:

The Braves head to D.C and play the Nationals in a 3 game series, Monday and Tuesday games start at 7:05 pm and the game on Wednesday begins at 1:05 pm before having the day off on Thursday before they go to Chicago to play the Cubs.
