Falcons 2018 Preseason Schedule Announced

The Falcons opponents for the preseason were released earlier today.

@New York Jets

The Falcons will be visiting the Jets in the first game of the preseason. Last season these teams played in a slugfest that came down to the final minutes. I call it a slugfest due to the fact that the weather was very disturbing that day. The Falcons made a lot of mistakes that game due to the weather, but they came out victorious 25-20.

This time around the Falcons will probably will be facing another quarterback, as many mock drafts say that will be their pick in the upcoming draft.

vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The second preseason game will be at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Falcons will be seeing a new quarterback in this game as well with Patrick Holmes slated to be the next quarterback for the Chiefs.

The last time these two teams faced each other was in 2016, the Falcons were defeated 29-28. That game Matt Ryan threw two picks, both to Atlanta native Eric Berry. Many players credit that lost to when the season turned around for them and got them to the Super Bowl. The Falcons won the rest of their games in the regular season after that loss.

@Jacksonville Jaguars

The Falcons will go to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars in their third preseason game. This will definitely be a good dress rehearsal game for the Falcons since the Jaguars had one of the best defenses in the league last year. The Jaguars surprised many people last year with their play and made a deep run into the plays, in which they lost to the Patriots in the AFC Conference Championship Game.

This will be the third year in the row these two have faced each other in the preseason.

vs. Miami Dolphins (August 30th)

Another preseason game against the Dolphins. Both of these teams have seen each other in the exhibition game since 2014. The Falcons are 1-3 in those games.

The also met in the regular season last year. The Falcons had a 17 point lead in that game and ended up losing 20-17. Two things will be different this season for the Dolphins, Ryan Tannehill will be back, and Ndamukong Suh won’t on the line for them after signing with the LA Rams in the offseason.
