Game 4 Breakout Player to Watch: Pekka Rinne

(Mark Humphrey/AP)

Look for Pekka Rinne to have a big Game 4.

My break out player for game 4 is Pekka Rinne. After being pulled from game 3, I would expect him to have a strong attitude about being back between the pipes.

In the post game interview Pekka Rinne said, “You want to bounce back and have a good game, but at this time of the year when it’s the playoffs, it doesn’t really matter what happened the game before. You always have a chance in the next game, so I’m just looking forward to tonight.”

I expect him to be like a brick wall. He had a .776% when he came out of the game. He and all of Nashville knows he is better than that with a career save average of .919%. Or stopping 91% of the shots he has faced.

Rinne is also up for the Vezina Award for the 4th time in his career. Rinne is tied for 1st with eight shutouts this season. He had 42 wins and a save percentage of .927%.

Rinne said this about being selected as a finalist, “It’s an honor, and it’s a credit to my team. Playing with these guys, they make me look good… Even though its an individual award, I couldn’t do it without my teammates. That’s the biggest thing for me.” The awards will be given out in Las Vegas after the postseason in June.
