#5: Jamal Crawford goes glass
2011 1st Round vs Magic, Game 3
This was, without a doubt, about as ugly of a possession as a team can produce with the game on the line (although Jeff Teague might object to that). However, all that mattered was the way that the possession ended: with one of the most iconic shots in Hawks history.
It was a crucial Game 3 after the Hawks and Magic split the first two games in Orlando. Through 47 minutes, the game had been tightly-contested. With a one-point lead and 15 seconds on the clock, Hawks’ guard Jamal Crawford decided to go one-on-one with Orlando’s Jameer Nelson. Nelson played excellent defense and forced Crawford to launch an incredibly difficult shot from near the logo at the end of the shot clock.
To the shock of everyone in the building except probably Crawford himself, the shot hit the backboard and dropped through the net, giving Atlanta a four-point lead with just five seconds remaining.
The shot put the game away and gave Atlanta a 2-1 series lead over Orlando. The Hawks would go onto win the series in 6 games, thanks in large part to Jamal Crawford’s late game heroics.
