No surprise here.
The Falcons announced earlier that they have exercised Vic Beasley’s fifth-year option on his contract, which guarantees he’ll be on the team through 2019.
Vic Beasley has had an up and down career since the Falcons drafted him in 2015. He didn’t produce much in his rookie season, but in his second season he blew up. He led the NFL in sacks and was a crucial part of the Falcons success on the defense in 2016.
This past season, Vic Beasley was moved to linebacker. Beasley registered 5 sacks, and it mostly due to injuries and his move to a new position. Both Dan Quinn and Beasley noted after the season that he’ll be returning back to DE full time. With Takk McKinley having a solid rookie season, it will be great to see what he and Beasley can do opposite of each other this year.
Vic Beasley should go back to his 2016 form this year and help a still improving defense for the Falcons. If he does a great season, they might have to start thinking about opening the bank for him as well.
