Dan Quinn has been the Head Coach of the Falcons for three years and has had 19 picks so far. He has been a great drafter but who are his best picks?
Honorable Mentions: Damontae Kazee, Duke Riley
10. Austin Hooper
He was supposed to be picked in the second round and luckily he fell to the 3rd round and I think it was a good pick. We were spoiled with Tony Gonzalez but Hooper has been a very formidable replacement.
9. Wes Schweitzer
The fact that Schweitzer came in, started, and was a decent player speaks to Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff’s talent evaluation skills as he was only given a 50/50 chance to even make an NFL roster by NFL.com
8. Justin Hardy
Although picked at where he was projected, Hardy has been a formidable backup under Dan Quinn.
7. De’Vondre Campbell
Campbell was picked 1-2 rounds earlier than most draft projections and even though people like Mark Dulgerian (NFL.com scout) thought he would be a rotational player, he came in and started 10 games his first year and having a pretty decent year. He’s become a great player on our defense and was a great pick.
6. Tevin Coleman
Even though we had drafted a RB the year before, Dan Quinn decided to use his 3rd round pick on a RB. Coleman has been a top 15 back in the league the last couple of years and it was a great pick by Quinn.
5. Vic Beasley
Even though Beasley was chosen with the 1st round pick, Beasley had an underwhelming rookie year and many people were ready to say he’s a bust. Fortunately he was the sack leader during our 2016 season
4. Takkarist McKinley
This is one of the most controversial opinions on here to put McKinley ahead of Vic Beasley. I do that because Takk was chosen later, Dan Quinn risked it (trade) to choose him, and Takk had 2 more sacks his rookie year than Vic did.
3. Deion Jones
The second round pick in 2016, Deion Jones was a pick that came a round early. This pick wasn’t as scrutinized as much as Keanu Neal but some people didn’t like it. He has become an amazing player and absolutely was a great pick.
2. Keanu Neal
This was a hugely debated pick when the Falcons selected Neal with their first pick. Many people believed Neal would’ve been available with our second round pick and that we should’ve taken A’Shawn Robinson. Obviously we took the right player here as Neal has become one of the best safeties in the game.
1. Grady Jarrett
Grady Jarrett is my pick for the best Dan Quinn pick because of when he was drafted and the impact he’s made. He somehow dropped to the 5th round and the Falcons made one of the best picks in their last decade. He has come in and had an impact from the start and has become the second best DT in the league despite being a late round pick.
