Hawks interviewing David Fizdale

Days after mutually agreeing to part ways with head coach Mike Budenholzer, the Hawks are already beginning their search for a new coach.

The New York Times’ Marc Stein reported that on April 28, Atlanta interviewed former Grizzlies’ coach David Fizdale. Fizdale’s time in Memphis ended after it was decided that he and Grizzlies’ star Marc Gasol could not develop any chemistry.

Fizdale’s has reportedly already met with the Suns and Knicks, and is widely considered to be one of the best available coaches on the market right now with his player-first approach. This approach would help Atlanta as it tries to develop young players such as Taurean Prince and John Collins.

Signing Fizdale would no doubt be a victory for the Hawks’ in the wake of Coach Budenholzer’s exit from the team.
