Braves Recap a Wild Weekend

Game 1: Marlins Won 2-0

Nothing too good to write about the Braves here outside of the pitching. Wisler had a fairly good start allowing 2 over 5 1/3 innings and striking out 5. In a spot start you really can’t ask for much more. However, Dan straily pitched 7 seven scoreless for the Marlins and was truly just generating soft contact all night. The two runs that proved to be the only runs needed came in the 6th when J.T. Realmuto had an RBI triple and then Starlin Castro followed with an RBI Double.

Game 2: Braves won 8-1

Sean Newcomb had his scoreless inning streak snapped in the 2nd with a Bryan Holaday RBI single but that was the only run he yielded in another impressive outing. The Braves finally broe into the scoring column for the first time this series in the 5th tallying 4 runs. The Braves had 5 different players drive in a run including Dansby Swanson in his first game back from the DL.

Game 3: Braves won 10-9

8 years ago, on this day the braves scored 7 runs in the 9th to knock off the Reds and was capped by a Brooks Conrad grand slam. Well on May 20th, 2018, the Braves scored 6 runs in the 9th, 5 with 2 outs, to knock off the Marlins. It was capped off by a Dansby Swanson 2 run double with the bases loaded. Dansby was 0-4 up to that point in the game including striking out earlier in the 9th. Still, outside of Freddie Freeman, he is the guy you want at the plate in that situation. It was an exciting finish and a great momentum builder heading into the series in Philly.
