Kicking off Matchday 2 for Group B was Ronaldo’s Portugal facing Morocco after drawing 3-3 against Spain in Matchday 1.
Portugal had the ease of mind knowing that they cannot advance or get eliminated based on the outcome of this match. But seeing how Morocco lost their first match, they knew they had to leave everything out on the pitch in order to get a win over Portugal and avoid elimination.
Right off the bat in the 4th minute of regular time, Cristiano Ronaldo received a great ball in and struck it with his head to leave the Moroccan keeper stunned. With this goal, Ronaldo became the most prolific international goal scorer for a European team in world history.
After the early goal and throughout the rest of the match, Morocco was the side with more attempts on goal, however, Portugal was the more efficient side in the end. With both sides drawing corners and attacking, the rest of the match was very even. Morocco was able to finish the match, and their World Cup run, with a 1-0 loss to Portugal.
