Atlanta Dream trade PG Layshia Clarendon for Connecticut Sun PG Alex Bentley

The Atlanta Dream have traded point guard Layshia Clarendon for ex-Dream point guard Alex Bentley.

Bentley was originally selected by the Dream in the 2013 WNBA draft before being traded to the Connecticut Sun the year after. In 19 games, Bentley averaged 10.0 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.4 rebounds in 21.7 minutes of play. Head coach Nicki Collen coached Bentley for two seasons in Connecticut. Adding Alex Bentley gives the Dream another offensive threat to backup Renee Montgomery at point guard. Alex Bentley has shot 30.8% from beyond the arc in her career.

Layshia Clarendon is being sent to the Sun along with a 2019 2nd round pick. Clarendon averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 assists in 17.3 minutes for the Dream this season. This trade does come however after learning that Alex Bentley had a physical altercation with her teammate Courtney Williams.  Hopefully, in familiar scenery, Bentley will continue to play at a high level without any locker room issues.

The Atlanta Dream take on the Washington Mystics Wednesday at 11:30 am so make sure you watch and cheer our fabulous ladies on.
