Today in the A: July 24

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope everyone has a little extra pep in their step today after seeing the Braves steamroll the Marlins yesterday 12-1! The Braves provided the only sports entertainment for us Atlantians yesterday but it sure brought a smile to all of our faces.

The Braves were led by Charlie Culberson’s 4 hits and 3 RBIs yesterday as he continues to swing a hot bat. Freddie Freeman continued his MVP campaign by blasting his 17th homer of the season and driving 2 as he finished the day 2-5.

Sean Newcomb got back on track after a couple rough outings. He pitched 6 strong innings allowing just 1 run and striking out 5. The bullpen combined for 3 scoreless innings as that was another positive takeaway from yesterdays game.

The Braves are back in action early today at 12:10pm because the team is headed back to Atlanta after the game to begin a 4 game series with the Dodgers on Thursday. Julio Teheran will be getting the ball trying to outduel Wei-Yin Chen.

Over in LA our Atlanta Dream will look for their 8th straight win as they take on Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks. The Dream and Sparks have the 2nd and 3rd best records in the WNBA respectively.

Join us tomorrow for Today in the A for a recap of today’s events and what is hppenig tomorrow!
