We now have Linsanity and Vinsanity

On Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks made what would have been a free agency splash in 2006 by signing 41-year old NBA legend Vince Carter. The news was broken by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who also reported that Atlanta signed Carter because they were understandably looking for a veteran presence to help influence the young locker room.

Yahoo Sports’s Shams Charania reported that the deal will be a one-year, $2.4 million veteran minimum deal.

Atlanta also picked up forward Daniel Hamilton, who played last season on a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This piece of news was also broken by Wojnarowski.

While neither move will vault the young Hawks into contention, they will help add more depth to the roster and hopefully make positive contributions on the court.
