Welcome back for another edition of Today in the A as we recap July 24th.
Braves fall to Marlins
The Braves fell behind the eight ball early, trailing 4-1 after three innings of play in Miami. No legitimate comeback attempt ever materialized, and the Marlins got a 9-3 victory, concluding the quick two-game series with each team picking up a win.
It was a rough afternoon for Julio Teheran, allowing seven hits. Charlie Culberson led the Braves with two hits. Ozzie Albies missed his third straight game with a hamstring injury.
Jones won’t report Thursday
Falcons’ star receiver Julio Jones made it known that he won’t be reporting to the team’s first day of training camp Thursday as he is still seeking a restructured contract. However, Atlanta announced last week that it will not begin contract negotiations with Jones until next season.
It will definitely be interesting to see how this pans out and if Jones ever decides to give up the holdout.
Dream beat Sparks
The Atlanta Dream picked up their eighth straight win Tuesday, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks on the road, 81-71. Angel McCoughtry led Atlanta with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Coming up tonight
The Braves have an off night tonight before beginning a home series with the new-and-improved Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
The Dream are off until next Tuesday when they’ll play a home game against the Mystics.
