Kyle Wright has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett
The Atlanta Braves first pick (no. 5 overall) in 2017 has been promoted from the Double-A Mississippi Braves to the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers. This comes just a day after the organization announced Kolby Allard will make his MLB debut on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins.
Kyle Wright is currently the Braves number two prospect behind only Mike Soroka. The 6’4 200 pound pitcher is the number nine rated player on the right-handed prospect board, and the 25th best overall prospect in MLB.
The combination of Wright’s 95-96mph fastball, peaking at 98mph, and his deadly curveball has gotten him one step closer to the major leagues. In 20 games in AA, he went 6-8 with a 3.70 ERA. In 109.1 innings he gave up only 103 hits and 51 runs, striking out 105 batters and only walking 43.
Seeing Wright one step closer to Atlanta is great news for the fans. They can now think about a rotation that will consist of Newcomb, Soroka, Allard, and Wright.
What a time to be a Braves fan!!!
