The 2nd year safety is looking to get in where he fits in.
Damontae Kazee was one of the biggest talks of the Falcons draft class last season. He had the two things the Falcons pride themselves on: speed and being physical. The Falcons drafted him as a cornerback, but soon transitioned him to safety after evaluating his skills.
Kazee didn’t see much time on the field with the defense in 2017. There were times where he did see the field in 3 safety sets and when there were major injuries to the team. The versatility of Kazee helped the Falcons when they needed depth at safety or even cornerback.
When Kazee wasn’t playing snaps on defense, he was on special team majority of the time. With his speed, he excelled well in that role. He had some good games, most notably the one against the Rams, after stripping the ball from Pharoh Cooper during a kick return.
Expect to see Kazee have an even bigger role on the team this season with a year under his belt.
