Shelby looks to return to help along the defensive line.
In 2016, Derrick Shelby was a great option as a backup on the defensive line. Sadly through the mid part of the season, he was injured and ruled out for the rest of the year.
Shelby came back in 2017 and picked up where he left off, doing some sold work as a defensive end. He also played some snaps as an interior defensive lineman last season. Known for more as a run stopper, Shelby will see a lot of snaps in base defense. He will most likely see snaps in the interior again as well as there are many players fighting for that starting spot.
This offseason the Falcons released Shelby, but resigned him weeks later. Probably realizing they needed more depth on the line, Shelby was great to have back on the team.
