Braves @ Marlins Series Recap

The Braves have finally finished a 7 game road trip and a stretch of 22 games in 20 days. They finished the road trip 5-2, going 2-2 against the Fish for this series. The starting pitchers were exceptional during those 4 starts, while the offense sat fairly still (with the exception of Ronald Acuna, who hasn’t missed much of a beat over the last month).

Game 1, the Braves won 5-0, including homers by Acuna, Inciarte, and Culberson. Sean Newcomb threw 6 scoreless that game.

Game 2 ended in a 1-0 loss for the Braves. Mike Foltynewicz threw 6 innings of 1-run ball, but the Braves offense couldn’t get it done against Braves killer, Dan Strailey.

Game 3 was another disappointment for the Braves–Anibal Sanchez went 5.2 innings allowing just one run. Brian Snitker made a questionable call leaving him in to pitch the 6th rather than pinch hit for him. The Braves lone run came as a Dansby Dinger in the 9th, not enough to beat the Marlins.

Game 4 was yet another great outing by Kevin Gausman, who went 5 innings, allowed no runs and just one hit (the pitcher). The Braves offense seemed quiet at fist, but manufactured 4 runs to win the game 4-0 and even the series 2-2.

The Braves have the day off tomorrow before coming home for a strange few days–2 games against the Rays, one against the Cubs, the the Pirates.
