The 3rd year linebacker is steadily improving.
DeVondre Campbell is similar to Deion Jones. They’re both fast, both were thrown in the fire their rookie seasons, and both have mad major strides early into their careers.
Campell has been a versatile piece to the Falcons improving defense. With his strength, he can cover tight ends. With his speed, he can cover running backs coming out of the backfield. If he needs to blitz and play on the line, he can do that as well. Wherever Quinn wants Campbell, it should help the defense.
One of the things Campbell did good in was stopping the run and setting the edge. There were many times last season where you saw him make key tackles stopping running backs from getting big gains. His coverage on tight ends is solid as well and shouldn’t be ignored.
Campbell will have the same role this season as he always had, and with another season under his belt, you should see nothing but improvement from him. He also became more of a vocal leader, so expect him to rally the defense during the season. He and Jones are a deadly linebacker core and will continue to flourish in Quinn’s system.
