BREAKING: The Atlanta Hawks and StateFarm reach agreement on Philips Arena naming rights

The Atlanta Hawks announced Wednesday morning on Channel 2 Action News that they have reached an agreement with StateFarm for the arena’s naming rights. It will take affect in October in time for the 2018-2019 season. This comes just months before the completion of the $192.5 million renovation of the arena.

The deal will be 20 years, $175 million, which is the same terms that Philip’s had with the team next season.

Hawks CEO Steve Koonin has always wanted to keep the team at Philips, but now is definitely changing the way the city sees the Hawks team with the team rebuild, the arena renovation, and now a name rebranding of the arena.

Philips had 1 year left on their deal with Atlanta, that was agreed to in 1999. It was a 20 year, $185 million deal that was agreed on, which was the highest in sports history at the time.

  • Big things are coming for the Hawks! Until then, see you at StateFarm Arena next season!!
