The Atlanta Braves brief two-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays ended with both teams picking up a win. On Monday, Julio Teheran started for the Braves going 5 ⅔ innings giving up 6 hits and 4 earned runs. The bullpen then came on and did a fantastic job of keeping the Rays batters in check only allowing 1 earned run.
The big hit for the Braves was Tyler Flowers’ pinch hit 2-run homerun in the 8th to cap off a day where he received a one year, $4 million extension from the Braves. Ender Inciarte also came up big for the Braves with 4 hits and 2 RBIs. The Braves took this one with a final score of 9-5.
On a wet, game delayed Tuesday, Sean Newcomb’s struggles continued for the Braves, as he only went 4 innings giving up 8 hits and 6 earned runs. Johan Camargo was able to keep the game close going 3 for 4 with a big 3-run homer, but it was not enough to stop the Rays from taking the final game of the series 8-5.
Next up, the Braves will take on the Chicago Cubs in a makeup game from May 17th at 7:35pm at SunTrust Park.
