After a down year, Tru is looking to have a bounce-back season.
Desmond Trufant is considered one of the top corners in the league. The way he flys around and gives wide receivers problems, it’s no doubt that he’s in the top 10.
After getting injured in the second part of the 2016 season, Tru was ready to come back and give the Falcons a boost in the secondary. You can tell he makes a big impact on the defense because quarterbacks rarely throw his way. When they do decide to throw it on his side, you should expect a pass breakup coming.
Though Trufant is a dynamic player, you can say he didn’t have one of his best seasons coming off an injury. He did get beat at times, but every you’re not going to get the best of the opposing player all the time. It was still an overall solid season for the corner as he still showcased his closing speed on the ball. The only thing he has to work on now is his hands. He could’ve had way more interceptions than 2 last season.
The Falcons offense is giving him their best right now in training camp, as you can see on their social media account. He and Calvin Ridley are battling, which is a sign of iron sharpening iron. Expect Trufant to have a better season than last year, and expect his interceptions to go up even more.
