Falcons place Safety Ricardo Allen on IR; Sign LB Bruce Carter and S Sharrod Neasman

The Atlanta Falcons have announced that they are placing Safety Ricardo Allen on injured reserve. Allen tore his Achilles in overtime when the Falcons took on the Saints in Week 3, losing 43-37.  Linebacker Richard “Dewey” Jarvis was waived to create an extra roster spot.

Bruce Carter was originally drafted in the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Carter has played for the Cowboys, Buccaneers, and Jets in his career. In his seven seasons he has recorded 306 tackles, 20 pass defenses, five sacks, five interceptions and one touchdown.

Sharrod Neasman was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Falcons in 2016. Neasman played in 17 games as the backup strong safety and recorded 1 tackle and 1 forced fumble. After the season concluded he was not re-signed by the Falcons and was signed by the Saints who later waived him.

The Falcons hope Carter and Neasman can fill the void left by Deion Jones and Keanu Neal after both players were put on injured reserve after Week 1. Deion Jones is eligible to return from injury in Week 8 but it will be a long road ahead.
