Georgia vs Tennessee Preview

The undefeated Georgia Bulldogs face off against their hated rival, the Tennessee Volunteers, on September 29, 2018 in Athens. While the Dawgs looked a bit sloppy last week versus Missouri, they at least looked better than the Vols. Tennessee was routed by Florida last week, 47-21, in an embarrassing effort. Things only get harder for the Volunteers, starting this week vs the Bulldogs.

Keys to the Game:

Get the pass rushing going

Georgia’s defense has overall been good so far, however an area where they have struggled is the pass rush. Before the Missouri game, the Dawgs were last, 128th out of 128, in sacks in the FBS. Thankfully, the defensive line showed signs of life last week, getting consistent pressure on Drew Lock. D’Andre Walker stepped up in a big way, with two sacks and two forced fumbles. If the Bulldogs can build on this, they should have no problem with the Vols.

Let the run game roll

The Dawgs run game has been impressive. Elijah Holyfield led the charge last week, with 90 yards on 14 carries. The Bulldogs possess a whole arsenal of talented backs, and it seems a different one steps up each week. Georgia should be able to pick up big chunks on the ground effortlessly against the weak Vols defense. Jim Chaney does not need to overthink play calling this week, just let the run game do the work.

Prediction: 45-7 Georgia.
