The Atlanta Braves looked to come out swinging early but unfortunately for the Braves they were shut out Game 1 of the NLDS by Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Dodgers bullpen and lost 6-0. Mike Foltynewicz struggled only lasting 2 innings giving up 5 and striking out five and walking three, in both innings he had trouble with runners on base and the Dodgers capitalized. The offense looked a little lost with only six hits all game and two coming in the ninth. The bullpen was the biggest concern by fans going into the series but they were able to pitch six great innings only giving up two hits and one run.
The Dodgers offense jumped on Foltynewicz early and were able to cruise from there. With 5 of the 6 runs coming from the long ball, Joc Pederson hit a leadoff homerun in the first followed by a 3 run shot in the second by Muncy, and Hernandez with a solo blast in the sixth. Ryu was able to shut down the Braves offense throwing 7 scoreless innings while striking out 8. The Dodgers looked like they were picking up right where they left off last year showing experience is going to be huge against this very young Atlanta team. Game 2 is set for Friday at 9:37 ET, the Dodgers will have Clayton Kershaw on the mound with the Braves matching him with Anibal Sanchez. If the Braves are able to win this game we have a brand new series coming back to Atlanta and giving the Braves momentum going home.
