Often overlooked by Atlanta Hawks fans and media because of all the Trae Young hoopla is the fact that the Hawks had another pick in the first round.
With the 19th pick the Hawks took Kevin Huerter the sharpshooting guard from Maryland. Huerter finished the 2017-18 season with the Terrapins averaging 14.8 Pts, 5.0 Reb, and 3.4 Ast. His most impressive stat though is his 41.7% line from behind the 3 point line.
Huerter will come into this season recovering from hand surgery on his shooting hand and was unable to compete in Summer League. This may lead to minute restrictions for him to start the season.
Expectations for Huerter this year will be to show improvement throughout the year. He has shown flashes of being a really good perimeter defender and an ability to pass the ball to go along with his shooting so if he can improve on those three facets of his game I think his season could be considered a success.
