It was announced this morning by, the FootballScoop, that Jim Panagos was taking a promotion at the University of Minnesota on PJ Fleck’s Staff. Panagos was recently named the DLine coach at GT but it seems as if he will be the DLine coach and Assistant Head Coach at Minnesota. This is certainly a sign to GT fans that, if other schools are already trying to offer a promotion to current GT staff members, how good of a staff Collins has put together.
Not too long after this was announced, Collins was quick to finding a new DLine Coach. It is a very familiar name to all Tech fans. Marco Coleman, former GT All American, will be returning to the Flats according to the FootballScoop. Coleman was the assistant defensive line coach with the Raiders this past season.
Marco Coleman is a big time hire and is another coach on the staff that knows what it takes to be a Georgia Tech student athlete. He was a part of the 1990 national championship and went on to be a 1st round pick in the 1992 NFL draft by the Dolphins. He made one Pro Bowl and played 13 seasons with 6 different teams
This was Coleman’s first season as a coach with the Raiders and his first big coaching gig overall. He is the 4th former GT player that Collins has brought onto his staff. Coleman is the perfect hire for Collins and will be able to help kids on and off the field and be able to help them retrace the same steps he walked while he was on The Flats.
