BREAKING: Atlanta United and Newcastle agree to terms on Miguel Almiron transfer

Curtis Compton (AJC)

It appears Newcastle has finally gotten their act together and submitted an acceptable offer.

It’s been a widespread rumor for months now, but news finally broke Monday afternoon that the Five Stripes have agreed to terms on a deal that would transfer Miguel Almiron to Newcastle.

According to Doug Roberson of the AJC, Miggy is already on his way to his new club for a physical.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed but we could be looking at a record transfer fee for a MLS player. Newcastle was getting desperate since their coach threatened to leave if a deal wasn’t done this week.

Despite the huge loss for the champs of MLS, Pity Martinez is excepted to fill the void left by one of the best players in the league. Atlanta United also has a slew of depth, which it will need especially playing in CCL starting in a month.

Atlanta United’s hands were also tied due to having four DPs on the roster. They were facing a March 30th deadline.
