Georgia Tech is coming off a terrible outing against UNC this past Tuesday. The Jackets couldn’t buy a shot in the second half while the Heels were lighting it up and ran away with the game. However, it is a new day in the ACC and Tech will look to knock off the the 25th ranked Seminoles in their house.
Florida State is coming off back to back double digit wins against Clemson and Miami after a slow 1-4 start in the ACC. This is the same FSU team that was just a Cam Reddish buzzer beater away from knocking off Duke so this team is much better than their record shows. Their offense is lead by star guard Terrance Mann, who is also a sniper from deep.
Mann and Phil Cofer lead the sharp shooting Seminoles but they will have a tough task against this Georgia Tech defense that is one of the top defenses at defending the 3 ball in the country. The deadly zone defense is led by the active guard at the top, Jose Alvarado(who will play), and the big rim protector down low in James Banks.
The Jackets need a spark offensively to have a chance in this game. They will need more than Jose Alvarado and James Banks. They are going to need to hit some shots from the perimeter, which is something the team has struggled with so far this season, because FSU has two twin towers down in the paint to protect the rim.
Georgia Tech can win this game, but they must limit turnovers because Florida Sate can force a bunch and turn them into easy points. Tech must also play their game and not get into a track meet like they did in the last 13 or so minutes of the Duke game.
This will be the first of two meetings in two weeks between these two squads. Tune in tomorrow at noon to catch the game!
