Last night the Atlanta Legends along with the Orlando Apollos were apart of the launch of the Alliance of American Football (AAF). The Legends got the game going by scoring the first ever points in AAF history which was a field goal by Younghoe Koo. Koo would add one more field goal as the Legends were only able to mustard 6 points. Quarterback Matt Simms, who was a former backup quarterback to Matt Ryan of the Falcons, threw for 126 yards with 2 interceptions. He did start the game off well with four straight completions, but never could keep it going. He only complete 15 out of 28 passes last night. Overall the Legends offense finished with 162 total yards.
As for the Legends defense, they struggled all night against the Apollos offense. Quarterback Garrett Gilbert threw for 227 yards with two touchdowns. He was even apart of the Apollos own “Philly Special” which put them up 22-6 at the half. The Apollos were able to do whatever they wanted to offensively and the Legends had no response. Orlando would go on to win 40-6.
The Legends next game will be against the San Diego Fleet on Sunday February 8th. Kickoff will be at 8 PM EST and the game will be televised on NFL Network.
