Georgia Tech looking to end losing streak in Blacksburg

Georgia Tech travels to Blacksburg tonight to face off against the top 25 Virginia Tech Hokies. The last time the Jackets face the Hokies was back in Atlanta on January 9th. In that game, the Jackets came so close to upsetting the Hokies, but lost 52-49. Since the last meeting, the Jackets have gone 2-7 and are now currently on a 5 game losing streak. During this losing streak, the Jackets have struggled hitting shots and having turnovers pile up.

If the Jackets want to win tonight, they need to keep playing good defense. Despite the Jackets, losing 5 straight the defense has not been an issue. The Jackets have done an excellent job this season at preventing teams from killing them from the 3 point line especially against teams like Duke and North Carolina.

To go along with playing solid defense, the Jackets need to prevent the turnovers as they average about 16 turnovers a game. If the Jackets can clean up the turnovers, then they will definitely have a chance of winning tonight.

Finally, Georgia Tech needs some shots to fall. One of the biggest issues for the Jackets in this 5 game losing streak is that their shots are not falling. Point guard Jose Alverado has struggled in his last 4 games especially against Florida State where he did not score at all. Shooting guard Curtis Haywood III has struggled greatly from behind the arc all season. If the Jackets, can get Alverado going and possibly Haywood then they can snap this losing streak.

Tipoff tonight is at 8:00 PM and following along on twitter @wreckhavocatl throughout the game.
