Georgia Tech hosts the 17th ranked Florida State Seminoles at McCamish today. The Jackets are still looking at trying to end this 6 game losing streak they have been in. Coming off a difficult loss to Virginia Tech on Wednesday, the Jackets will look to build off the positives from that came into the Florida State game today. One of those positives was freshman forward Kristian Sjolund who came off the bench and gave the Jackets life on offense. Sjolund showed on Wednesday how good of a shooter he is and will hopefully receive much more playing time for the remainder of the season for the Jackets.
In the first meeting for the Jackets came close to beating Florida State on the road in Tallahassee. This go around the Jackets will look to get the job done this time. Just like against Virginia Tech and pretty much all season, the Jackets needs to not turnover the ball so much. On Wednesday against the Hokies, the Jackets did not turnover the ball that much in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half the turnovers piled up and Virginia Tech took advantage. Also the Jackets need to make shots. Sophomore point guard Jose Alverado has really struggled and during this losing streak he is 10 for his last 59. Same can be said for sophomore guard Curtis Haywood II who is 7 for his last 34. You get one of these guys going then the Jackets will have a chance at the upset today.
If the Jackets can limit the turnovers, get out to an early start, and continue to play good defense like they have done for the majority of the season, then they will have a chance. Tipoff against Florida State is at 2:00 PM and follow along on twitter @wreckhavocatl throughout the game.
