Jackets Travel to Raleigh to face Wolfpack

Georgia Tech will finish off the regular season against the NC State Wolfpack tonight in Raleigh. The Jackets are coming off an overtime victory against Boston College on Sunday. Sophomore point guard Jose Alvarado had 21 points and shot 6 of 14 on the night. Freshman guard Michael Devoe also had a good night as he finished with 20 points and shot 8 of 17. Junior forward James Banks III was able to get involved as he had 18 points and 9 rebounds. Overall the Jackets finished shooting 51 percent and picked up their fifth ACC win on the season.

Tonight the Jackets will try to pick up one more win in the ACC and hopefully try to get a better seeding for the tournament. Jackets will have to try and shut down NC State’s senior guard Torin Dorn who averages 13.9 points per game. Dorn is also the team leader in rebounds as he averages 6.9 rebounds per game. Jackets will also need to try and stop sophomore forward DJ Funderburk who had a good game against Florida State where he scored 18 points and had 9 rebounds. On the season he averages 8.9 points per game and averages 4.2 rebounds per game.

As usual if the Jackets want to get a victory tonight, they need to hit their shots. Part of the reason why Tech beat Boston College was due to their good shooting. They also hit some key shots that really hurt Boston College whenever they got on a run. The Jackets will also need to keep the turnovers down. In the majority of the games the Jackets have won this season, they haven’t turnover the ball much and again that played a role in their victory against Boston College. Finally the Jackets will need to play good defense. Despite allowing Boston College to score 78 points, the Jackets made some big plays on the defensive end especially when sophomore guard Curtis Haywood had a big block to help force overtime on Sunday.

Tipoff against NC State is at 9:00 tonight. Follow @wreckhavocatl throughout the game on twitter.
