Preview: Hawks @ Pistons (Preseason Game 3)

Dewayne Dedmon (Jeremy Johnson).

Preseason action continues from Detroit.

Two days after an encouraging showing in Cleveland, the Hawks set their sights on the newly opened Little Caesars Arena in Detroit to square off against the Pistons in their third preseason game.

The Hawks are coming off a very promising 109-93 performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Granted, LeBron James sat out the game and it is still the preseason; however, the Hawks’ young core; particularly Dennis Schroder and Taurean Prince showed glimpses of the fast-paced, athletic team Hawks fans expect to see this year. New signing Luke Babbit also showed how great a shooter he is by torching the Cavs with three 3 pointers.

The Pistons are coming off of a narrow home defeat to the Charlotte Hornets in which they were outscored by 19 points in the third quarter. It was the first preseason game for Detroit.

Matchup to Watch

Dewayne Dedmon vs Andre Drummond. Free agent signee Dewayne Dedmon had an impressive game against the Cavaliers, scoring 13 points and even draining a three pointer. Dedmon has already shown flashes of the mobility and athleticism that the Hawks sorely lacked at center last year with Dwight Howard. Drummond is more of an old-school center and is coming off of a 16 point, 15 rebound performance against Howard and his Hornets.
